Introducing A Star: Meet Kelly

How long have you been with glitterstarz, and how did you hear about the position?

"I've been with Glitterstarz a little over 8 years now. I saw the ad on Craigslist asking for creative crafty people and I figured why not!"

what is your role at glitterstarz?

"I started there as a stone pattern maker but then learned how to press and I've been a presser ever since. I also fill in wherever needed and do personalization, sometimes vinyl design cutting and even painting of various offices..I love to paint!"

what is your favorite memory from working at glitterstarz?

"Sooo many awesome memories but when I started I was pregnant with my son and worked until his birth..GS threw me a baby shower and made me a rhinestone shirt to wear COVERED with all the teams designs I had made...it weighed a TON but it was a great party. GS ALWAYS knows how to make each and every one of us feel special and Jan even bought me men's sandals to ear when my feet were too swollen to wear regular shoes!"

what IS YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCT, RHINESTONE DESIGN, ETC., THAT YOU HAVE SEEN COME TO FRUITION AT GLITTERSTARZ?

"I love so many of the designs that come through but my favorites to work on and see come to fruition would be our special needs team designs. My 7 year old son has special needs and it is SO amazing to have a little part in making uniforms and teamwear that fits our special athletes to showcase their amazing talents. It's not always easy to find inclusive clothing that tailors to ALL needs but Glitterstarz is one in a million and inclusive to ALL athletes, and THAT makes me love my job even more!"

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

"My favorite thing to do outside of work is to spend time with my son, husband and dog. I spend most of my time advocating for my son and researching as much as I can about his condition and challenges and trying to make the best life and give him the best opportunities possible for his future."

What is one thing people may not know about you?

"Hmm...I'm pretty open and lead a pretty quiet life but I'm a huge music and art buff (my son is named Harrison after George Harrison of the Beatles) I spent 18 years working as a graphic and design artist before coming to Glitterstarz. I've even been to Italy to study the various art museums and cathedrals there and got to see the ceiling of the Sistene Chapel."

What is something exciting that has happened to you this year?

"Harrison [my son] got into an amazing private special needs school... AND adopted a new dog!"
